I have used the individual packets before that are by a different brand. I hated them because I had to use 2-3 packets each time. But this pump style bottle makes for better customized usage. It definitely works. It's definitely messy, so be sure to protect your work space. Rinsing with cool water the first couple of times helps with maintaining the color. I did start with dark hair, but this helped achieve the darkness I wanted. But it is DARK at first. 2 washes later, we have a more reasonable black (see photo).

This is not a daily-use shampoo, but rather a foaming hair dye to be used once every two weeks or so. You shampoo it in with your palms and leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, then wash your hair as you normally would. The price seemed high, but it's a very large bottle that should last for a long time, so I think it's actually a very good value. The product inside the bottle is separated into two compartments and comes out of two nozzles when pressed. Keep the plug to seal up the nozzles when not using. It does not go on super dark like its competitors and does not stain skin or tub. It comes with two pairs of cheap plastic gloves and suggests that you use gloves every time, but I have used it without gloves and it does not stain the palms -- just be sure not to use your fingertips as I'm sure it would stain under the nail beds. I had used a similar product in the past that explained this -- Just for Men GX -- but I could not tolerate that product because of the strong odor. Have used JFM comb-in product for years, but will be switching to this product now as it is much simpler and less messy to use, and has almost no scent and seems more natural.
